OHS / Workers’ Comp Grants

The Timber Trade Industrial Association receives grants from WorkCover NSW and Forests NSW to assist member companies in OH&S and Workers’ Compensation.

These grants allow TTIA to undertake training or develop materials to increase members’ knowledge of OH&S and workers’ compensation thus enabling them to comply with their legislative responsibilities.

During the last 10 years TTIA has undertaking the following tasks as a result of these grants:

1)    Developed a suitable duties manual for workers’ compensation specifically for the timber industry. This manual gave practical suitable duties ideas to member companies to help them rehabilitate injured workers and get them back to work sooner.

2)    Developed a safety systems manual and provided on – site training for private property logging contractors.

3)    Developed a training course for risk assessment in the timber industry and delivered this course in various locations throughout New South Wales.

4)    Developed a safety system for the various sectors of the timber Industry.

5)    Developed a machinery guarding manual for the timber industry.

6)    Conducted audits on Forests NSW logging contractors in Mid North and the North coast of NSW.

7)    Conducted training sessions throughout New South Wales on new OH&S and Workers’ Compensation legislation.

Member companies believe that the projects delivered by TTIA as part of these grants are a massive help in their continual battle to understand and effectively implement OH&S and workers’ compensation in their workplaces.
